Individual Adults

Therapy for Individual Adults

Individual adults come to therapy for many different reasons. People may be dealing with anxiety, depression, trying to overcome trauma, a loss in their life, a big change in their relationships or a range of other challenges. People are incredibly unique in their personalities, backgrounds, perceptions and experiences, which is a big part of what makes my role interesting to me.  I have never found a one size fits all approach to therapy that works for everyone. Instead, I enjoy collaborating with clients to identify the goals that they have for the therapy process.

Most of us have learned somewhere along the way in life that it is not okay to be emotionally vulnerable. For this reason, in the therapeutic process it Is important to create the safety and comfort necessary to explore the emotional and psychological obstacles in an honest and authentic way.

A few consistent themes that I have found to be relevant in working with adults individually, in addition to the symptoms they are experiencing, are relational attachment styles, trauma histories, personality structures, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and identity. I enjoy the process of working with individual clients to explore how these factors, and others, impact their life. This process not only helps me but also you as the client, to better understand how your life experience has influenced the way you move through the world. Through this process I want to support you in identifying a path that fits for you and to move toward your goals and to get what you need and want in your life.

I enjoy witnessing the healing and growth that comes when the clients I work with commit themselves to the process. I believe it is worth putting in the effort to find a path through life that is more enjoyable, more authentic and more satisfying.
