Depression

Overcoming depression can be very difficult. Depression can be a result of a variety of different issues people may be confronted with like loss, trauma or loneliness. Depression symptoms may also arise when people feel stuck in an important area of their lives like in their job, career or relationships.

I want to support clients in identifying what obstacle or obstacles may be making it difficult for them to move forward in the way that they would like to in their lives. It is important to consider the tools, skills and strategies that enable a person to gain the confidence or agency needed to begin to feel like they are moving forward. I have also found that helping clients connect with a broader range of emotions and emotional experiences can help people to feel less restricted. This can help clients to feel less ‘stuck’ in their depression and allow them to gain a better understanding of the source or sources of their depression.

Depression may feel like being trapped or stuck for some and for others it may be an overwhelming experience of sadness or anger. It is important to get to know and understand your own experience, as well as the sources of your depression symptoms. We will work together to find tools and strategies that will work for you, your specific experience with depression and are designed to help with your depression symptoms. Overcoming depression often includes more than symptom management strategies, though that is a good place to start. It is also important to work towards mental and emotional health and wellness. I want to support you in addressing depression symptoms while also engaging with what makes you feel alive, fulfilled and satisfied.
